MAKING A BEQUEST

A gift from your will or trust gives you complete control of your assets during your lifetime, while leaving a generous legacy for BCNY.

A bequest or other testamentary gift may qualify your estate for an estate tax charitable deduction.

Outright Bequest

“I give (________ dollars) or (specific asset, such as securities, real estate or other property) to The Boys’ Club of New York, New
York, New York for its general purposes (or for the following purpose ___________.)

Residuary Bequest

After payment of estate-related expenses, other bequests, or following the death of primary beneficiaries:
“I give all or (______ percent) of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate to The Boys’ Club of New York, New York, New York for its general purposes (or for the following purpose _______________)

Contingent Bequest

Only to benefit BCNY if other beneficiaries, such as family members, predecease the person making the will.

Codicil

If you already have a will, you can have your legal advisor draw up a Codicil to amend the existing will to include a bequest for BCNY. Please contact the Development Office to coordinate your desire with the current and future needs of BCNY.

Make sure to check with your legal and financial advisors to ensure your plans benefit both the people and causes you care about in the most strategic way possible.

Ed Schultz

– From Member to Emmy-Winning Supporter

Ed Schultz began as a member in our Harriman Clubhouse in his teenage years. It was there that he discovered a love for theater through our clubhouse programming — a passion that followed him into adulthood and eventually led him into a successful career in television. When he passed, Ed chose to leave a bequest gift to support BCNY’s arts programming. That gift made possible the renovation and modernization of our clubhouse auditorium — a space where future generations of members can discover their own creative talents, just as Ed once did.

– A Mother’s Generosity Blossoms into Legacy

Regina began supporting BCNY simply because she appreciated what it meant to her son. Over the years, she made small, regular gifts to show her gratitude and encouragement. When she passed, she turned that quiet generosity into something far larger: an estate gift that went directly into our programming.
