An Honor 

We are proud to announce that BCNY has been selected as a recipient for the 2024 Youth Learn to Swim Grant from the USA Swimming Foundation. This competitive grant opportunity was open to organizations throughout the country, making this award a testament to the importance of BCNY’s aquatics program.  

Youth Learn to Swim

The research underscores the importance of making swimming more accessible and equitable: 79% of children in households with incomes less than $50,000 have little-to-no swimming ability, and every day 10 people drown in the United States (USA Swimming). The Youth Learn to Swim grant will support BCNY and USA Swimming Foundation’s shared goal of spreading the life-saving skill of swimming to members of our communities free of charge, ensuring that cost is never a barrier for choosing to learn how to swim. Developing members’ lifelong capacities to be safe in, on, and around water all while having fun is core to our aquatics program and we could not be prouder of our staff, past and present, in creating generations of swimmers who can feel confident in being water safe.
