When Julian Jackson joined Boys’ Club nearly a decade ago, he was welcomed into a community of boys and young men who enjoy access to unique programs and events across New York. His earliest memories at Boys’ Club include his participation in the Abbe swim team, where he and his team learned swimming skills that advanced them to compete on the national stage in South Carolina.
Beyond aquatics, Julian has explored various interests at BCNY, including graphic design, music, and culinary arts. His passion for The Boys’ Club inspired a philanthropy pitch on our behalf during the IAC Fellows program, an immersive internship he excelled in over the summer.
In Julian’s words ‘this experience was a true highlight’, including visits to the New York Stock Exchange, and attending his first Yankees game. During the summer program, he and his teammates presented their ‘Rent the Runway’ company profile to the entire IAC Mergers and Acquisitions team alongside the IAC CFO. Astounded by their exceptional presentation, Investopedia’s editor-in-chief, Caleb Silver, urged Julian and his team to participate in the IAC Philanthropy Fellows Program where they secured a $20,000 grant for BCNY. Julian wholeheartedly recommends the program to his peers, recognizing IAC’s dedication to fostering personal and professional development.
Along the way, he encountered challenges, such as determining what information to include in the grant proposal to best represent the Boys’ Club but overcame each hurdle as they came. Boys’ Club is honored to have been nominated by Julian and his team and impressed by the presentation and pitch they delivered. Congratulations Julian and thank you for nominating The Boys’ Club of New York.
