Meet BCNY’s Newest Celebrity Ambassador: Mr. Cory

Cory Nieves, founder of Mr. Cory’s Cookies, is BCNY’s newest Celebrity Ambassador!

“I’m super excited to become the ambassador for the BCNY.  I always believe if you can dream your future it will become your future.  The BCNY embodies that.”

You may have seen this stylish and savvy young CEO on Ellen or the Today Show or read about him in HuffPost, The Source, or USA Today. Or maybe you’ve even been fortunate enough to try one of his tasty cookies while attending Harlem’s EatUp! Food Festival. Whatever the connection, his signature chocolate chip, double dark, oatmeal raisin, and sugar cookies—made from all-natural and high-quality ingredients—has been trending for both their deliciousness as well as the company’s meaningful mission.

Mr. Cory’s desire to make the world a better place, combined with a love of treats and an entrepreneurial spirit, led him to found Mr. Cory’s Cookies at the tender age of six. In 2010, Mr. Cory told his mother, Lisa (aka “Cookie Mom”), he was tired of taking the bus to school and he wanted to buy a car. He then crafted the idea to sell hot cocoa to raise the funds. After realizing his dedication to his new business, Cookie Mom encouraged her son to continue selling hot cocoa to save money for college. Not only did Mr. Cory keep at it, but he began selling lemonade and cookies to expand options for his loyal customers. Mr. Cory and his mom spent months learning how to bake, testing original cookie recipes, and a thriving business was born.

Through his cookies, Mr. Cory has been able to work with some of the nation’s leading companies and brands, including Aetna, Barney’s, Bloomingdales, Citibank, J. Crew, Macy’s, Mercedes-Benz, Pottery Barn, Ralph Lauren, TOMS, Viacom, Whole Foods, Williams-Sonoma and partner, Mr. Marcus Lemonis!

Mr. Cory’s mission is to help those in need to obtain the education and resources they need to thrive. As stated on their boxes of cookies, “when we were struggling, people stepped up to help us. With our company and foundation, we are paying that kindness forward.”

“I’m not only a fan of his cookies—particularly the sugar one that boasts a hint of lemon—I am a fan of Mr. Cory, an inspiring young entrepreneur with principle,” shared Stephen Tosh, CEO and Executive Director of BCNY. “His drive and determination to help others is a great example for the boys and young men we serve at BCNY—and beyond.”
