Television and Film Actor Carmine Caridi, probably best known for playing the role of Carmine Rosato in The Godfather: Part II (1974) and Albert Volpe in The Godfather: Part III (1990) passed away on May 28, 2019 at the age of 85.
Caridi spent over six decades entertaining audiences, including his roles on the television shows Phyllis, Starsky and Hutch, Fame, Taxi, and NYPD Blue, to name a few. He also appeared in the movie Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park (1978) playing an amusement park manager named Calvin Richards and appeared as Sam Giancana in the film Ruby (1992).
Born in Manhattan, Caridi took up acting with the Boys’ Club as a teenager, which he credited with saving his life: “I’m lucky…all my friends went with the mob.”
Caridi was hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and passed away peacefully, surrounded by friends and family.
