Suited Up 2019

On May 18, twenty young men from the Boys’ Club of New York participated in SUITED UP—an annual event that provides teens with complimentary suits that can be worn for prom, graduation, interviews, and other special occasions.

It was a fun and an exciting day of shopping at Macy’s Downtown Brooklyn, where members from all three clubhouses were gifted with a total of $10,000 to use toward their upcoming special life moments. Throughout the morning, an energetic and dedicated team of Macy’s style experts were readily available, helping the young men find just the right attire, while also measuring, fitting, and pinning them to achieve the perfect tailored look. Teens then posed for pictures with a new swagger, before sitting down with BCNY staff and the Macy’s team for a delicious lunch provided by Macy’s.

Since its founding in 2016, more than 200 boys and young men have participated in SUITED UP, many leaving with a complete outfit—suit, shirt, vest, tie, socks, and shoes. This year, some of the teens even received colognes to complement their new suits. BCNY knows a good suit can serve as a foundation for success and we are committed to paving the way for our members.

“SUITED UP celebrates a significant milestone in our members’ lives through the power of a suit that matches the occasion,” said Stephen Tosh, BCNY’s Executive Director and CEO. “Along with fashionable attire from Macy’s to don at key life events, the greatest reward is seeing the young men leave with huge smiles and an extra confidence boost—and that’s priceless.”
