BCNY Updates

Meet Clayton

An up-and-coming “virtuoso” pianist, Clayton joined the Boys’ Club five years ago after hearing about the Josie Robertson School of Music and Art jazz program. At BCNY, Clayton found himself a new home filled with diverse programming and supportive friends and staff. Clayton shared that he keeps coming back to BCNY because it’s a place where he felt welcome and truly cared about.

“There’s something so special about The Boys’ Club of New York which is that it’s really a place for us to be ourselves and most vulnerable and learn from the staff,” said Clayton.

This fall, Clayton will begin studying at Harvard University.

Clayton shared his BCNY story and played us a ‘lil something’ earlier this year!

Clayton was named 2017 U.S. Presidential Scholar, one of the United States’ highest honors for high school students.
There are 161 scholars, Clayton is one of only 20 scholars in the Arts.

The Josie Robertson School of Music and Art is supported, in part, by: public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the City Council and by New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
